Head coach Aleksandrs Starkovs commentary after the game:

“Despite the loss 0:1, I think our game was not bad today. As a coach I saw that the team was militant, energetic, who was not of authorities. While not playing against the strongest Polish opposition, our opponent has skilled players who play in good European clubs. From our players I will definitely underline Aleksandrs Cauņa, Ritvars Rugins, Oļegs Laizāns, Aleksandrs Fertovs game today - these players, who did not played in their clubs for a recent month, in this match showed itself at its best.

Artjoms Rudņevs, Ritvars Rugins, Ivans Lukjanovs and Aleksejs Višņakovs also played quite active. I liked the players' energy for both defense and attack. I think the sporting success should be on our side, we were able to take the lead, and the result might have been different.

Goalkeeper Pāvels Doroševs had a debut for the “A” national team in the starting lineup today. Before this match our coaching staff had a lot of reflection and discussion on who should take a place in the goal. By choosing Doroševs, we see that the decision was right. He coped with the psychological pressure. In the first half two or three times he fought off dangerous shots, but the second half goal was an unfortunate episode by our central defenders.

For both substitute debutants it was clearly a major event today. Will it be a great event for the whole Latvian national team – we will see it in the future. I hope that Alans Sineļnikovs and Vladimirs Kamešs will perceive as an advance. It is important these players had a necessary international experience by playing in this match that will be useful for them in the upcoming Baltic Cup tournament. "

Next tournament for Latvian national football team will be held in June when the traditional Baltic Cup tournament will take place in Estonia. Semifinal games - Latvia will meet neighbors Lithuania on June 01 in Võru City Stadium, while Estonia take on Finland Tartu Tamme Stadium. Baltic Cup final and match for the 3rd place is scheduled on June 03th.

Latvian national football team played it's first official friendly match this year on February 29th in Turkish resort Antalya against Kazakhstan. Despite playing more than 70 minutes one man down, Aleksandrs Starkovs side fought a goalless draw 0:0.
