Latvian LMT Virsliga 2010 will start at the beginning of April with ten competing teams in three rounds, therefore granting 27 matches for each team, Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has decided. “However, we’re still searching for the most suitable calendar for our clubs and National Team,” says Janis Skredelis, Head of Competitions Department. First and opening matches depending on weather might be played inside at the Olympic Sports Center Riga – headquarters of LFF.
In LMT Virsliga 2010 will compete the following teams: current Latvian champions SK Liepajas Metalurgs, second placed FK Ventspils, bronze medallists Skonto FC Riga, FK Jurmala-VV, JFK Olimps Riga, SK Blazma Rezekne, FC Tranzits Ventspils, First league champion FK Jelgava, First league second placed team FK Jauniba and FK Daugava Daugavpils. Last team was included in LMT Virsliga with LFF board decision as they skipped a year in tournament due to financial problems.
LFF organized draw decided the first two round calendar, but the third round will be placed after the results in second round. Last placed team in LMT Virsliga 2010 will be relegated, but 9th placed team will play for the rights to stay in the strongest Latvian league against the second placed First league team.
