On Sunday four 13th round matches were played in Latvian championship. This time two sensations happened – one in Sloka, while other – in Daugavpils.
The biggest surprise for Latvian football experts was the match Sloka a settlement near Jūrmala.
Metalurgs scored an early goal, when Daniel Kastner opened the score in 22th minute, and took the lead. But Jūrmala answered with a great shot in the middle of the second half, when Romans Bezubovs came with equalizer. And there was nothing Metalurgs could do about it – they played a little bit better, but Jūrmala’s defenders did their job well. The Game ended with a surprisedraw 1-1. Interestingly, the match between this two clubs in Liepaja ended with a draw too – 2:2.
Another surprising score was in the Dinaburg – Skonto game (1:1). Latvian bronze medal winners Skonto played more attacking football than their opponents, but scored only once. And Dinaburg used this well, as one of home side’s attacks ended with a nice shot by Vladimirs Žavaronkovs.
In other two games Ventspils and Blazma took the maximum of points. Ventpils left no chances in city derby for Tranzits (3:0) and are now level on points with metalurgs, while Blazma minutes scored fourth goal (4:3) in last minutes to snatch a dramatic victory over Daugava.Article from www.balticleague.com
