Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has constantly improved its IT database and hardware since moved to new premises. Thanks to financial support of UEFA and bright minds at the federation, LFF has bought server, computer for each workspace, software and uses as much as possible free, open source programs for internal use. Next step is effective use of the possibilities.
There is enormous project rolling-on called federation management system (FMS) in co-operation with FirstSports International. FMS will electronically hold all of the LFF registered players in one databank and create their player profiles, which, when filled, will follow through the rest of their carriers. Clubs, matches, cards, different kinds of statistics, fixtures and disciplinary sanctions – all of the information can be tracked and found if the system is properly run. FMS is not only about players – it can hold also other databases like referee profiles and allocations, media module, special part of the system can be allocated for club use.
LFF has found out that there are unlimited opportunities using effective IT in everyday work and these IT systems gathers more supporters each week. Internal communication, internal calendar for tasks, vacations or busyness, twitter – these are just a few open source programs what can be found and used effectively in the organization.
Other great IT project is web shop for LFF souvenirs. LFF has established and 100% owns limited liability company “Football Agency”, what runs the business. In the nearest future LFF will launch its ticket selling web platform for the national team matches. “Hopefully we do not run ahead of the train, but do the good for next generations. I do agree to the second statement,” confirms LFF General Secretary Janis Mezeckis.
