Latvian U21 team candidates announced for Andorra match

Latvian national U21 team head coach Genādijs Šitiks has announced 20 candidates for the UEFA European U21 qualifying Group 1 tournament opening match against Andorra. This game will be played in Riga, Skonto stadium on June 6th. Kickoff time - 18:00 (local) / 19:00 (CET).

Match against Andorra will be the first game in the new qualifying campaign for Latvia U21 team. Genādijs Šitiks side was drawn into one group with Russia, Romania, Moldova, Faroe islands, Andorra. 

52 nations are striving to reach UEFA European U21 championship final tournament that will be staged from 12 to 25 June 2011 in Denmark cities of Arhus, Aalborg, Herning and Viborg .

With host Denmark already assured of their place as the home nation, the other countries were drawn into ten qualifying groups – eight with five teams and two with six.

The ten eventual group winners and four best runners-up at the end of the qualifying round will proceed to the play-offs for the final tournament, with the winners of those seven two-legged ties securing berths for Denmark.
