In the tournaments last match Latvia made a big surprise. The small Baltic country ended the match with Norway in a draw 0:0. Due to this result, Norway did not qualify for the final tournament as hosts France finished first.
„In this tournament we showed that Latvia has some very good young players, who can achieve a lot if they will keep improving. All our opponents were stronger if we look at the squad, so, I think the final result is good for us. Half-year ago nobody believed that we can eliminate Italy from tournament, but exactly this happened. I am proud of my boys, they played good against more experienced players. This will be good lesson for them“, - said head coach of Latvia Vladimirs Belajevs after the match with Norway.
