Aleksandrs Starkovs announced 22 candidates

Latvian national football team head coach Aleksandrs Starkovs announced 22 candidates for the World cup qualification matches against Luxembourg.

The only newcomer in the squad is Pavels Mihadjuks. The defender has recently played very successfully at the Scottish Premier league for Inverness CT, after joining the club from Ventspils this winter.

In total 14 domestic based players have been called up to the national team. More 8 candidates playes abroad.

Goalkeepers: Andris Vanins (Ventspils), Aleksands Kolinko (Olimps/RFS), Deniss Romanovs (Slavia Prague, CZE).

Defenders: Kaspars Gorkss (QPR, ENG), Deniss Ivanovs (Metalurgs Liepaja), Oskars Klava (Metalurgs Liepaja). Deniss Kachanovs (Metalurgs Liepaja), Dzintars Zirnis (Metalurgs Liepaja), Pavels Mihadjuks (Inverness CT, SCO).

Midfielders: Vitalijs Astafjevs (Olimps/RFS), Juris Laizans (Olimps/RFS), Andrejs Rubins (Inter Baku, AZE), Aleksandrs Cauna (Watford, ENG), Jurijs Zhigajevs (Ventspils), Genadijs Solonicins (Metalurgs Liepaja), Aleksejs Visnakovs (Ventspils), Vladimirs Kolecsnichenko (Inter Baku, AZE).
