UEFA European Club competition season starts on July 2nd

Latvian clubs are preparing for start of UEFA European Club season 2009/10 after the draw for the UEFA Champions league and the UEFA Europa league first two rounds was made at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on June 22nd.

Current Latvian champions "FK Ventspils" will play against "F91 Dudelange" from Luxembourg in the second qualifying round of UEFA Champions league.

Meanwhile, "FK Dinaburg" from Daugavpils will have the earliest start of the European campaign by taking on "JK Nõmme Kalju" from Estonia in the UEFA Europa league first qualifying round.

Other two Latvian clubs - "SK Liepājas metalurgs" and 'Skonto FC" will start UEFA Europa league season from the second qualifying round where Metalurgs will host "Dinamo Tbilisi" from Georgia, but Skonto will have a matchup against Ireland's "Derry City FC".
