This weekend four very exciting battles were held in Latvian football Virsliga. Only now first looses this season tasted two strongest country teams – Ventspils and Metalurgs Liepaja.

One of the most intriguing games was battle between last year champions from Ventspils and team from the middle of the table – Dinaburg.

Visitors played a little bit better in the start of the match, but their opponents opened the score, when in 24 minute Valērijs Afanasjevs came up with a great strike (1:0). After this episode Ventspils started to play much more attacking football, but the home side defence stood up well while the champions strike force wasted their opportunities.

In the 15th match day central fixture Skonto managed to take maximum of points from leaders. Metalurgs played much better in the first minutes, but it was Skonto who scored first, when Ivans Lukjanovs scored in 24 minute. After 20 minutes Kristaps Grebis from Metalurgs was sent off a very bad tackle, and a minute after this Ivans Lukjanovs.

In the second half Metalurgs tried to change the result, but Skonto were fortunate as the post twice saved them. However, once they reached the target as Skonto scored an own goal.

The other two games ended with a same score 1:1. Jūrmala played maybe the worst game this season (1:1 with Daugava), while Tranzīts scored in the last minute and notched a point from the game against Olimps/RFS.
