  UEFA European Club competition season starts on July 2nd

Latvian clubs are preparing for start of UEFA European Club season 2009/10 after the draw for the UEFA Champions league and the UEFA Europa league first two rounds was made at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on June 22nd.

This Monday four matches were played in Latvian "LMT Virslīga" football championship. Central round’s battle this time were held in Liepāja where home side SK Liepajas Metalurgs took all three points from current champions FK Ventspils.

This weekend four very exciting battles were held in Latvian football Virsliga. Only now first looses this season tasted two strongest country teams – Ventspils and Metalurgs Liepaja. One of the most intriguing games was battle between last year champions from Ventspils and team from the middle of the table – Dinaburg.

Latvian U21 national team has made a great start of the new European championship qualifying tournament after scoring four goals against Andorra in Skonto stadium on Saturday, June 6th.

  Latvian Woman team goes to UEFA four nations tournament in Malta

Latvian Woman national team will participate in UEFA four-nations minitournament in Malta from June 5-10. Latvian female team will play against Bulgaria, Luxembourg and homeside Malta in a one round tournament which UEFA organises after each six months for those countries who has not qualifyed for the European championships.
