Latvian national football team first goalkeeper Andris Vaņins, who signed a contract with FC Sion some weeks ago, made his official debut in Switzerland championship.

Vaņins, who is considered to be one of the best Latvian players at the moment, made his debut in league match against Grasshoppers. This wasn’t the best game for Sion as they lost 1:3. However, Vaņins was named the best player in his team, and goals, which he conceded, weren’t his mistakes.

Vaņins and Sion played second game in this seasons Switzerland football championship. This time Sion took impressive victory against FC Luzern 3:1, and the only goal Vaņins conceded from penalty.
