22 Latvian football referees came together for a first training camp this year. They will be looking to improve their refereeing and physical skills in sunny Turkey, where the training conditions are excellent.
The Latvian referees will be in Turkey from February 23 to March 6.

Laizāns is one of the best players of this position in the country and Tomsk team coaches believe that the Latvian can reach his optimal condition and help the team a lot in the coming Russian Premiership season.

Gints Freimanis sign for St Patrick’s Athletic

Latvia striker Gints Friemanis who scored for St Patrick’s Athletic in their mid-week friendly against Chelsea has today signed for the club.
Friemanis had previously played with FK Riga found himself without a club earlier this year when his move to Cork City failed to materialise, “it was disappointing not to be playing football but I have been working hard to maintain my fitness levels and I am delighted to have the opportunity now to play for St Pats”.

Latvian national futsal team from February 19-22 will participate in the UEFA European futsal championship preliminary round Group B tournament in Varna, Bulgaria. Arturs Šketovs side will play against Estonia, Armenia and hosts Bulgaria for a chance to qualify to the next round.

Latvian U-21 Youth national team candidates came together for a first training camp in 2009. Genādijs Šitiks side will have two practises on Monday and Tuesday, meanwhile on Wednesday (February 11th) Latvian U-21 team will play friendly match against Lithuanian club "Šiauliai" in Olympic Sports centre hall in Riga.
