  Mihails Zemlinskis - new U21 head coach

On the 1 September former National Team defender, well known football player in Latvia - Mihails Zemlinskis was confirmed as new Latvian National U21 Team head coach. M.Zemlinskis was nominated to the post after his predecessor - Genādijs Šitiks, died of a heart attack at the age of 51.

Estonian U-19 women national team won ladies Baltic Cup in Latvia Valmiera beating Lithuania 2:1 and drawing with Latvia 0:0. The hosts beat Lithuanian U-19 1:0 to finish the tournament ahead of their southern neighbours. There was no opponent for Latvian U-17 national team, who beat Estonia 1:0 and Lithuania 3:1. Estonia and Lithuania settled for a 2:2 draw which was enough for Estonia to finish second in the table.

Latvia is in mourning after the coach of the country's Under-21 side, Genādijs Šitiks, died of a heart attack at the age of 51.

  Draw in Riga unveils TrioBet Baltic league 2009/2010 season

TrioBet Baltic league season 2009/10 has been unveiled in Latvian capital Riga with the draw of the Round of last 16. The third edition of the tournament will commence on the 22nd of September. The final will be held on the 4th of July with the venue still unconfirmed.

  TrioBet Baltic league 2009/2010 season draw to be held on Monday

Curtains of the third TrioBet Baltic league season will rise on Monday with the presentation of the new competition format and the draw for the 2009/2010 season. The presentation and draw event will be held in the Olympic Centre of Latvian capital Riga on the 17th of August, starting from 15:00. The draw is scheduled to be made at around 16:00 and after that the organizers of the league will hold a press conference.
