Last weekend Latvian capital Riga hosted the Baltic cup for U-17 national teams (players born from 1993). Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian teams, as usually, took part in this competition.
Estonia showed they have the strongest boys in this age group as they became Baltic champions.
In the first game Estonia managed to defeat Latvia (1-0), while a date later achieved the same result with an early goal against Lithuania. Latvian and Lithuanian youngsters match-up was interesting and even.
Lithuania scored two fast goals, but the little bit fresher Latvians (they had a free day) used their physical advantage and Jurijs Archipovs came up with a double to equalize (2-2).
With the score tied, where penalty shoot-out was held, and lady luck smiled on the Lithuanians as they won 5:3 and guaranteed a second place in the Baltic cup tournament.
