The weekend saw four seventh round matches were played in Latvian football championship "LMT Virslīga".

In battle between last year’s champions and third place winners, FK Ventspils left no chance for Skonto FC Riga 3:1 (1:1) and took the lead in Virsliga. Early minutes on Ventspils midfielder Zurab Menteshashvilli opened the scoring, but only a few minutes were played when Skonto equalized – after a good pass by Latvian international Andrejs Pereplotkins his teammate Olegs Semjonovs took advantage of indecisive goalkeeping by Andris Vanins (1:1).

The last ten match minutes was something to forget for the side – first after good pass Ventspils took the lead courtesy of a good strike by Jurijs Žigajevs, and some minutes later Vits Rimkus converted penalty (3:1).

This was Ventspils fifth victory and the champions took the lead in LMT Virsliga table.

In three other seventh round matches Dinaburg achieved first victory of the season by taking three points from Daugava (1:0). Tranzits and Blazma match ended with a draw (0-0), while Jurmala lost against Olimps/RFS.
