No victories for home sides in fifth LMT Virsliga round

Four fifth round matches were played in Latvian football championship this weekend. Leader Skonto Riga this time had a free weekend and it was well used by the two opponents Metalurgs Liepaja and Ventspils, who took the maximum points.

Olimps/RFS also collected three points with an easy victory against Blazma Rezekne, while a match-up between two youngest championship teams Tranzits and Daugava ended with impressive draw 3-3.

Jūrmala 0 : 3 Ventspils

National champions Ventspils visited beautiful city Jurmala and collected easy three points. Great start by the visitors left no chances for home side - after half time it was already 2-0. In the next 45 minutes the visitors scored one more time and game ended with 3-0. The goal scorers were Igor Tigirlas, and Grigory Chirkin (twice).

Dinaburg 0 : 3 Metalurgs Liepaja

After a very unsuccessful game with Jurmala, Metalurgs coach criticism worked well with the players and they scored three goals in second half to take maximum of points in Daugavpils. The home side played only in defense, but after half time tiredness took it’s toll and the guests used it. Kristaps Grebis scored twice and Latvian international Girts Karlsons added another strike.
