SK Liepajas metalurgs on the top of the table after first round in LMT Virsliga (+Video)
07.05.09 SK Metalurgs Liepaja and FK Dinaburg achieved narrow victories in the 9th round matches were played in Latvian Virsliga championship on Monday.
Metalurgs Liepaja only beat guests from Riga Daugava thanks to a single goal by Daniel Kastner. In the other match of the day FK Dinaburg achieved a hard victory over outsiders SK Blazma Rezekne (1-0) in Daugavpils. Jurijs Sokolovs scored the winner from the penalty spot.

Hosts Latvia win Baltic U-19 trophy (+Foto)
06.05.09 Latvian natoinal U-19 Youth team (players born in 1991) won Baltic cup tournament in Riga last weekend. In the traditional tournament between the home team, helped by home supporters won both matches.

Baltic cup for U-17 national teams goes to Estonia (+Foto)
05.05.09 Last weekend Latvian capital Riga hosted the Baltic cup for U-17 national teams. Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian teams, as usually, took part in this competition.
Estonia showed they have the strongest boys in this age group as they became Baltic champions.

22.04.09 Traditional Baltic Cup for U17 and U19 Youth mational teams of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will be held in Riga (May 01.-03., all matches in stadium Daugava).

No victories for home sides in fifth LMT Virsliga round
16.04.09 Four fifth round matches were played in Latvian football championship this weekend. Leader Skonto Riga this time had a free weekend and it was well used by the two opponents Metalurgs Liepaja and Ventspils, who took the maximum points.
Olimps/RFS also collected three points with an easy victory against Blazma Rezekne, while a match-up between two youngest championship teams Tranzits and Daugava ended with impressive draw 3-3.

Aleksandrs Cauna scores first goal for Watford
