Jānis Dreimanis side will compete against hosts Italy, Netherlands and Cyprus for two places in the group that gives the ticket to the next round.

Latvian U-19 team win over Moldova secures second place in the group (+Foto) 08.10.08 Latvian U-19 Youth national team on Tuesday, October 7th won the deciding matchup against homeside Moldova (1:0) in the European U-19 championship qualifying campaign and secured the second place in the group that sends latvians to the next qualifying round. The second match between Russia and Italy finished with russians victory by 1:0, that ruined all hopes for "squadra azzurra", but opened the door for Latvia to the next qualifying round in April, 2009.
Aleksandrs Starkovs names candidates for Switzerland and Israel games 05.10.08 Latvian National team head coach Aleksandrs Starkovs had names 23 candidates who will prepare for upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches - away in Switzerland (October 11th) and at home against Israel (October 15th). After beating Moldova away (2:1) and losing to Greece at home (0:2), Aleksandrs Starkovs side stays third in it's group before playing next matches.
LFF takes part in Grassroots Study course in Oslo (+Foto) 03.10.08 Delegations from Latvian FF, Lithuanian FF and Belarus FA participated in UEFA Grassroots Study Group Scheme course in Oslo organised by Norwegian FA. During four days programme were discussed important ideas of promoting Grassroots football in these countries and whole Europe.
