Latvian National football team match against Greece will be the first home match in FIFA 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign. Venue - Skonto stadium, opened on millennium 2000 is located in the heart of Baltic States – Latvian capital Riga. Stadium has 9500 seating places, VIP lounges, offices, cafes, press centre.

It is used mostly for football matches – „Skonto FC” plays it’s home matches here in LMT Higher League. Also Latvian team uses it before national stadium „Daugava” is renovated. Skonto stadium also hosts different culture events – groups like Depeche Mode, Aerosmith, Massive Attack, Metallica, as well as hip-hop artists - Akon and Snoop Dogg have performed here.

In the year 2003 National Song and Dance festival took place here, but in 2006 IIHF World Championship matches were played in the Skonto hall that is located besides Skonto stadium. In May, 2008 Latvian and Georgian football stars played here a friendly match, but Aleksandrs Starkovs side after beating Estonia (1:0) and Lithuania (2:1) in Skonto stadium this year became Baltic champions.
