The UEFA Executive Committee today approved the expansion of the final tournament of the UEFA European Championship from 16 to 24 teams, as from the 2016 edition.

  Skonto defeats weakened FK Riga with 8:2 and goes to final

On Tuesday Skonto FC at their home pitch defeated 13 men FK Riga with 5:0 (2:0) and got the first ticket to TrioBet Baltic League (TBL) final with 8:2 summed match results. The other semi-finalists FBK Kaunas and FK Ventspils will play on Wednesday, 24 September and 8 October. "We'd prefer Kaunas," Paul Ashworth, head coach of Skonto FC, stated after Tuesdays match.

Latvian U-19 Woman national team goes to Lumbju, Sweden for UEFA European Championship qualifying group 3 matches (24.09.2008 – 01.10.2008). Agris Bandolis side will compete against Wales, Croatia and homeside Sweden for two places in this group that will qualify for tournament second stage.

  Latvian U-16 Youth team meets Poland

  National team starts 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign in Moldova

Latvian National team on Thursday, September 4th went to Moldova, where Aleksandrs Starkovs side takes on Moldova in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying first match. Kickoff time - Saturday, September 6th @ 19:00 (local and Latvian time). Venue: Sheriff Sports Complex - Tiraspol.   Latvian National U-21 team will meat Sanmarino and Belarus

Latvian National U-21 team will close it's EURO 2009 qualifying campaign with away match against Sanmarino (Septembre 5th) and home match against Belarus team in Riga (September 9th). Two wins - one draw - three defeats puts Genādijs Šitiks side on fourth place in tournament table before both september kickoffs.
