Grigori Chirkin's away goal paved FK Rīga's path to UEFA Intertoto Cup third round - despite losing the second leg of the second round away to Bohemian FC 1:2 the aggregate score 2:2 sent Rīga through on the away goal rule.
After winning the first match in Latvia 1:0 FK Rīga conceded after 21 minutes when Jason McGuiness' shot was on target. Chirkin pulled the away side back in the game and although Killian Brennan took the Irish club 2:1 ahead by a last-minute penalty the away goal scored by Chirkin proved to be essential.
In the third round FK Rīga faces Elfsborg from Sweden, the first leg ended 1:0 in favour of the Swedish club.
Second leg match will be played in Liepāja, Daugava stadium on Sunday, July 27th. Kick off local time - 18:00.
