IF Elfsborg held on to move past FK Rīga into the UEFA Cup

FK Rīga gave a decent performance against IF Elfsborg but failed to score in the return leg which sent the Swedish side through to UEFA Cup second qualifying round.
Having lost the first leg away 0:1 FK Rīga was under pressure to make a good result at home. The Latvian club had to change their coach between the two legs when Genadijs Morozovs decided to leave, which left assistant Andrey Manannikov as a caretaker.

Estonia takes Baltic Woman Cup title; Latvia finishes third

Latvia hosted this years Woman Baltic Cup, as National teams of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia competed in one round tournament in Valmiera from July 25th - 27th.
After beating homeside Latvia (3:2) in the opening match and Lithuania (4:0) in the second matchday, National Woman team of Estonia secured the title of Baltic Cup 2008. Lithuania finished second after victory over Latvia (4:2) on Sunday, July 27th.

Woman Baltic Cup 2008 this weekend in Valmiera

Latvia is the host of this years Woman Baltic Cup, as National teams of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia play one round tournament in Valmiera from July 25th - 27th. Today, on the opening tournament match homeside Latvia takes on Estona (kick off at 18:00), then Estonia playes Lithuania on Saturday (15:00), but the last match between Latvia - Lithuania will be played on Sunday, starting at 12:00.

UEFA Champions league: FK Ventspils through to second round (+Foto)

Latvian champion FK Ventspils have booked it's ticket to UEFA Champions League second qualifying round where they will Norwegian side SK Brann Bergen.
In the first qualifying Ventspils had lost the first leg match away to Welsh side Llanelli AFC 0:1, but were dominant in the return game in Ventspils (4:0).

FK Rīga will play Elfsborg in Intertoto Cup third round after passing Bohemians

In the third round of UEFA Intertoto Cup "FK Rīga" faces Elfsborg from Sweden, the first leg ended 1:0 in favour of the Swedish club.
Second leg match will be played in Liepāja, Daugava stadium on Sunday, July 27th. Kick off local time - 18:00.
