Latvian First league - mission to be promoted to the Virslīga
07.04.08 The Latvian First League (Latvian: 1. līga) is the second tier of football in Latvia and is organised by the Latvian Football Federation. There are 15 clubs in the First League 2008. During the course of the season each club plays the every other club twice, once at home and once away, with a total of 30 games. At the end of the season, the highest placed club is automatically promoted to the Virslīga. The second lowest placed club in the Virslīga and the second placed club in the First League compete in a Play-off over two matches for the remaining place in the following season's Virslīga.

05.04.08 The Latvian Higher League (Latvian: Virslīga) is the top tier of football in Latvia and is organised by the Latvian Football Federation. From the 2008 season, the league are two rounds. In the first round each club will play all the other nine clubs twice, home and away starting with April 5 and finishing on 10 August. In the second round there will be two "mini leagues", with the top six clubs playing each other twice and the clubs in 7th to 10th place playing each other twice.

LFF Conference detects Latvian football upgrowth (+Foto)
01.04.08 At the end of March Latvian Football Federation (LFF) hosted an annual conference for its associates and was honored by participation of UEFA Executive Committee member Per Ravn Omdal. Yearbook as a report for 2007 was approved by the associates and LFF president Guntis Indriksons in 40 minute speech pointed out the stage of development of Latvian football.
