Latvian futsal team failed to reach into the UEFA European Futsal championship finals after having three losses in three Main round group matches in against Romania (2:6), Kazakhstan (0:2) and Russia (0:6). Artūrs Šketovs team finished fourth in Group 3 standings, while current European vice-champion of Russia confirm their place at UEFA Futsal EURO 2014 finals, but Romania will compete in the playoffs.
Main round Group 3 tournament took place from March 27th - 30th in Zemgales Olympic sports centre, Jelgava.

Goals by Dorianne Theuma and Rachel Cuschieri gave Malta women's football team a 2:0 win over Latvia in the last match of the FIFA World Cup preliminary qualifiers to finish top of the group on better goal difference from Albania. Albania also won their last match (2:1 against Luxembourg) to end up on seven points. Same as hosts Malta both teams qualified for the next phase.
